From Waste to Worth: Wenplastics at CWMA 2025
Last Friday (October 10, 2025), Wenplastics had the honour of joining sustainability leaders at the Coast Waste Management Association (CWMA) Conference, where the founder, Ken Guo, presented “From Waste to Worth: Plastic Redemption in a Circular Economy.” His talk highlighted how Wenplastics is turning post-industrial plastic waste into valuable resources — advancing circular solutions right here in British Columbia.
Circular Economy in Action
Based in Delta, BC, Wenplastics recovers and processes over 2,000 metric tons of post-industrial HDPE and PP plastics each year. Through a combination of shredding, rinsing, drying, and pelletizing, these materials are transformed into high-quality recycled regrind, ready to re-enter the market.
This closed-loop system — production, use, recovery, and reuse — drastically reduces landfill waste and carbon emissions while helping industries meet their ESG and regulatory goals.
Recovering What Was Once Forgotten
Ken’s presentation emphasized Wenplastics’ pioneering work in the Pipe Project, which tackles a long-overlooked challenge: the recovery of plastic pipes used for decades in the energy, mining, and infrastructure sectors.
With partnerships involving Suncor Energy, TECK Resources, and Secure Energy, Wenplastics is now recycling thousands of metric tons of retired HDPE pipes that once would have been landfilled or incinerated.
Building Local Partnerships for Sustainability
Wenplastics also supports local supermarkets, warehouses, and pallet companies through its Plastic Pallet Recycling Service, diverting bulky materials from landfills and lowering disposal costs.
By working directly with T&T Supermarket, Superstore, and multiple warehouse partners across the Lower Mainland, Wenplastics helps businesses implement practical, cost-efficient recovery strategies that contribute to a cleaner future.
As Ken Guo explains:
“These materials would otherwise end up in landfills or incinerators. Instead, we transform them into high-quality regrinds and compound resins that go back to industries…”
Certified Quality. Canadian Reliability.
Beyond recovery, Wenplastics manufactures UN-rated IBC totes and pails that meet ISO-certified standards for quality, environmental management, and workplace safety.
By combining production and recovery under one roof, Wenplastics ensures that every product has a sustainable life cycle — from design to recycling.
Looking Ahead
Wenplastics continues to lead the way toward a circular economy for plastics in Canada. By collaborating with industries and municipalities, we’re proving that waste can have worth — and that local partnerships can create global impact.
